PLA print settings
Start at 210°C on the nozzle and 60°C on the bed. PrintHaus PLA prints anywhere from 190–230°C (nozzle) and 50–65°C (bed), and those numbers are printed on every box. Use the settings below as your starting point, then fine-tune for your printer.
Starting settings for PrintHaus PLA
| Setting | Start here | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Nozzle temperature | 210°C | 190–230°C |
| Bed temperature | 60°C | 50–65°C |
| Filament diameter | 1.75mm | Set 1.75mm in your slicer |
| Part cooling fan | 100% after the first 2–3 layers | Off or low for the first layer |
| Bed surface | Clean PEI (textured or smooth) | Wipe with isopropyl alcohol before printing |
Printing fast? Move towards the top of the nozzle range. The quicker filament moves through the hot end, the more heat it needs to melt properly.
Slicer profiles
You don't need a special profile. Pick the generic PLA profile in your slicer, set the temperatures above, and you're ready to print.
- Bambu Studio / Orca Slicer: Generic PLA
- PrusaSlicer: Generic PLA
- Cura / Creality Print: Generic PLA
Want it perfect? Print a temperature tower once per printer and keep the temperature that gives the cleanest bridges and least stringing.
Fixing common problems
| Problem | Try this first |
|---|---|
| Stringing or wispy hairs | Drop the nozzle 5°C. Dry the spool if it has been left out. |
| Weak or splitting layers | Raise the nozzle 5–10°C, or slow down a little. |
| Corners lifting (warping) | Clean the bed with isopropyl alcohol, raise the bed towards 65°C, add a brim. |
| First layer not sticking | Re-level or re-run auto-calibration, clean the bed, slow the first layer down. |
| Gaps or thin walls (under-extrusion) | Raise the nozzle temperature, check for a partial clog, check the spool turns freely. |
Storing and drying
PLA slowly takes in moisture from the air, which shows up as stringing, popping and weaker prints. Keep spools you're not using sealed with a desiccant pack, in a dry box or an airtight tub. If a spool has been left out for a while, drying it at around 45–50°C for 4–6 hours in a filament dryer usually brings it back.
